Biography
Dr. Katie Petrola grew up in the small town of Steubenville, Ohio. She earned her undergraduate degree in Zoology and Chemistry from Miami University of Ohio and completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following dental school, Dr. Petrola completed a two-year General Practice Residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
After residency, Dr. Petrola gained extensive experience in both private practice and hospital-based dentistry. She proudly served veterans as a general dentist and attending with the Department of Veterans Affairs and also taught as an Adjunct Professor and Residency Director at the UNC School of Dentistry, where she mentored residents in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program.
Dr. Petrola has a passion for all aspects of general dentistry, with a special focus on preventive care, patient education, and restorative treatments including crown and bridge, implants, partials, and dentures. She also holds Qualified Dentist status with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and has completed advanced training in the management of obstructive sleep apnea using dental sleep appliances. Dr. Petrola is committed to providing her patients with the highest level of dental care while easing dental anxiety and helping patients achieve their individual treatment goals. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Petrola enjoys spending time with her husband and their two-year-old son. Together, they enjoy traveling, cooking, cheering on UNC basketball and Steelers football, and relaxing at home with their cat.
