Biography
Dr. McMichael grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. Both of her parents are Army Veterans, so she traveled the world as a child. After graduating from high school in 2005, she attended East Carolina University and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and served in multiple roles, including serving as President of the Biology Honor Society and Founder of DMD-Diversity in Medical Dentistry Society. She was also a student researcher. She then attended the historic Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN and received several research awards and graduated with research honors. After dental school, she was accepted into the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) residency program, where she served as Chief Resident. Her clinical rotations included Dental Sleep Medicine and Orofacial Pain. Dr. McMichael has completed extensive continuing education through her years. She is currently in the process of earning her Associate Fellowship with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, all while completing her requirements to become a Pankey Institute Scholar and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. She enjoys all aspects of dental medicine and believes in working holistically with patients to achieve exceptional oral health.
In her spare time, Dr. McMichael enjoys spending time with her husband (whom she met in dental school, and he also practices in North Carolina), their daughter, Gabrielle, and their German Shepherd, Duke. She is an avid traveler and enjoys volunteering at free dental clinics and serving at global dental mission trips with her husband.
